Questions Atheists and Others Want Answered

Lately, the algorithm that runs my homepage has pushed articles/blogs that involve questions atheists (and possibly atheist authors) hold against Christianity. The questions are reasonable. Lots of people wonder about these things and a few are bold enough to ask their pastor, if they have one. It has to be very frustrating to get brushed off or told to just believe. If pastors don’t know how to answer they should be bold enough to say that they don’t know and ambitious enough to do some research.

Many of the questions that I have seen in the articles I read, I have already covered in GivingChrist.com or my other blog afterdeathsite.com. Here are some previous articles related to some of the big ones.

Is There Proof that God Exists?

I look to three major scientific areas besides the historical record of God interacting with mankind in the Bible to prove God’s existence. Ultimately, God has to be able to break through our defenses which are often: a desire to be in control, a love for a particular sin, or the disappointment caused by poor examples of a Christian found in our parents or the clergy. If God can’t break through, I am not sure that any amount of proof will help. But on the offhand chance that you think there is no proof. Please read:

For those who still are struggling with objections of a scientific nature, I would like to recommend a book. It is entitled, Seeing Is Believing. It is written by Michael Guillen, PhD, who was a professor at Harvard and the former science editor for ABC News.

The World Is Too Messed Up for God to Be There

Maybe it isn’t a scientific objection. The world is very ugly. How is this compatible with the existence of God?

The offense could be very personal, like an unanswered prayer. If so, maybe this would help:

God Is the Most Offensive Character in Literature

There is a classic quote from well published atheist Richard Dawkins that calls God every name under the sun. He obviously considers God to be a fictional character, but a very badly written one, especially in the Old Testament. Some of God’s actions in history are hard to understand and possibly even gives offense or reason to doubt. If some of these things bother you or somebody you know, perhaps these articles will help:
